News & Events: Ivory Tusk Awards

for student filmmakers

This year’s second annual Ivory Tusk Awards, a contest to honor the best work by this year’s student filmmakers, included some twenty-four entrants across a range of styles and formats. To be eligible, a film had to have been made under the auspices of or in association with TuftsFilmWorks, the ExCollege’s digital filmmaking initiative.

The final tally was very close, but by May 2nd, the evening of the awards ceremony, we had our three winners:

First prize went to Ben Samuels and Nick Jandl for their Civil War film, Ashes of Monsters; second prize went to Rebecca Katz, for her adaptation of a Virginia Woolf very short story, A Haunted House, and third prize went to Tom McMillan for his post-modern look at swimming pools, American Spirit.
